FAQ
What is playing the audio in the browser?
Playback of audio in all browsers except Mobile Safari uses the jQuery HTML5 Audio / Video Library ‘jPlayer’.
Playback of audio in Mobile Safari uses the HTML5 tag or the Web Audio API depending on the iOS version.
What is the Playback audio file format?
The audio file format used for playback is determined by the calling browser.
We supply an option of ‘mp3’, ‘wav’ and ‘oga’ file formats.
Where can I report bugs or issues?
You can report bugs or issues here: support@ttsengine.com.
How do I use the plugin with iOS/Mobile Safari?
Mobile Safari does not allow the preloading of audio elements through the browser.
Loading and playback of audio can only be triggered by a user touch gesture with the touchscreen.
These limitations means there is a lag in the playback of audio in mobile Safari in iOS 5 and older.
The performance is much better using iOS 6 (recommended for this plugin) but there are two
user gestures required. One to quickly load the audio and a second to begin playback.
