IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TWITTER TOOLS INSTALLED AND ACTIVATED THIS PLUGIN IS WORTHLESS.

Sorry for yelling, but that part's really important.

NOTE (also important): If the StatusNet instance you're using (for example, Identi.ca) is configured to cross-post to Twitter, YOU WILL GET A LOOP AND DUPLICATE POSTS. This is because when you post to Identi.ca, and it cross posts to Twitter, Twitter Tools picks that up and reposts it to Twitter and Identi.ca, which then also reposts to twitter.

DISABLE AUTOMATIC CROSS POSTING TO TWITTER IF YOU USE THIS MODULE!

If you install and enable this module, anything you post to Twitter (using SMS, a mobile client, a desktop client, using the API, using the web, or using Twitter Tools itself to post from the sidebar) will also get posted to Identi.ca or whatever StatusNet instance you point it at. This includes blog post notices but is not limited to them - that's why it is important to disable any other twitter/statusnet cross posting.
